On Thursday, August 17th, we invite you to the concert “He and She” in the club Biedrība.
French saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Fred Hormain and Latvian saxophonist and violinist Ilze Lejiņa, as a duet “He und She” is already celebrating its 11th concert season. Home country of the musicians is France, so these concerts in Latvia will be exclusive, as musicians will be heard only in summer.
The concert program will feature Fred Ormen’s original music from his
new album “Spiritualite”, as well as well-known Latvian folk songs,
arranged in electro-ambient style. At the concert You will hear music created with saxophones, guitar, electric violin, kokle, birbina, electronics and, of course, voice.
French musician Fred Ormen has accumulated musical professionalism, participating in many projects in jazz, salsa, electro and funk style in France and in Europe. He is said to be talented and spontaneous, improvising a musician who turns any moment of life into a magical adventure. Played saxophone solo in Laima Vaikule’s album “Home again”, performed together with Maceo Parker drummer Jamal Thomas, Candy Dulfer opening band in Luxembourg, het also participated in music festivals in Latvia, in Russia, Belgium, Estonia, Lithuania and Poland. Often performed under name Mister Goldhand.
Ilze Lejiņa, on the other hand, is known as one of the first popular saxophonists in Latvia. Graduated from Madonna’s music school Riga Music College, Jāzeps Vītolas Latvian Academy of Music, Ilze
improved herself in her studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and At the National Conservatory of Music in Montreux, France. Playing music in Riga saxophone quartet, won the Grand Music Prize, founded and led girls’ saxophone quartet n[ex]t. Ilze was a saxophone player for many years at the group concertmaster in the professional brass band “Rīga”, played solo parts in the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and the Latvian Opera in the orchestra. She has worked as a saxophone teacher in music schools in France and in Luxembourg.
