Monta Tupčijenko Group: a bright and harmonious combination of voice, trumpet, piano, double bass and drums. This ensemble presents a carefully selected programme of modern jazz, featuring original compositions by singer and composer Monta Tupčijenko, as well as popular arrangements of jazz standards and works by Fred Hersch, Kenny Wheeler and other composers.
Monta Tupčijenko is a composer, singer, pianist and a vocal coach. She was born in Latvia, where she also began her musical career, studied in Tallinn (Estonia), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Trondheim (Norway), and Essen (Germany), where she is currently studying jazz arrangement and composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts. Monta Tupčijenko has written for various different ensembles and in various genres, from contemporary music for solo piano to big band, choral, and orchestral repertoire.
In 2021 she released a debut album with her chamber music quartet “Lathyrus” titled “On the Brink of Light”.
