Emīls Buiķis
Poet, lyricist and performer. Author of two collections of poetry, “No nabassaitems” (2013), “Skaisti šarės tiki tilti” (2017). The third collection is in the process of being created.
Known as the author of lyrics for such popular artists and groups in Latvia as Prāta Vētrai, Laika Upei, Mother Of Pearl (Didzis Melderis) and others.
As befits a decent poet, Emīls had already met Imantas Ziedonis in his childhood, who was often a regular visitor as well as a walking companion.
As he admits, he started singing a long time ago – so long ago that he doesn’t remember exactly when, but it might have happened around the age of 12-13, mostly because he was interested in music.
Emīls Buiķis actively participates in poetry days, poetry readings and various other cultural events.
Māra Zālīte wrote in the introductory words of his first book: “after a long time, it is a real pleasure for me to recommend a really young and exceptionally gifted poet”.
Band Sub Scriptum has been actively performing concerts since 2017, in style of Indie/Pop.
The group is a frequent guest at festivals such as Summer Sound, has performed in programs known in Latvia such as “Zelta Mikrofons 2021 nominees announcement”, “TV3 annual award”, “Osokina’s Freedom Festival for Ukraine” and has played everywhere, even in horse stables, if you don’t believe it, type Youtube ” Pajāt’”.
In 2020, which was so harsh for culture and music, we released the album “21.gs. mode” (21st Century Mode), which we recorded with producers Arnis Račinskis and Aleksandr Burija (Ukraine). Video clips were created for the songs of the album, and they were also broadcast on the biggest radio stations in LV, entering the Top 20 and gaining a potential audience. The album has also been noticed by the media and critics.
Recently, the single “Siltumnīcā” was released, which conquered the Latvian Radio station Tops. Also, the group’s latest performance “Noise” has already managed to conquer the hearts of the listeners.
